You've blessed us with delightful, brilliant days. The sun beams all day and the birds rejoice. Few clouds are in the sky and a light breeze suggests that I be calm and carefree. But God, my heart is heavy and I feel as though I am being teased. For once I ask you to fill the sky with low, dark, heavy clouds floating amidst a still chilliness. Give me weather fellow blacks and I can identify with. Please don't continue to tease us so. I remain in an air of sadness that I fight not to dwell in. However, many blacks are infuriated and ashamed in this time of blatant prejudice. It is apparent that this exasperation does not phase many whites in authority, so please be the one being to acknowledge our bleeding hearts. With ideal weather, I am continually frustrated with my inability to fully appreciate the everyday joys that occupy my days. Never would I ask you to change the way of society, for I feel ignorance shall fade with time. Just show us that you're listening to us, because you may very well be the only one that ever will.
Amen,
Charlotte
